Episode one
Have you ever seen a cat breastfeed a duck? By the end of ‘Animal Odd Couples’ you will have. That, and an orang-utan with a pet dog, a jaguar who’s best buds with a jack russell and a kudu called Charles who’s attempting to woo a giraffe named Camilla. These are just a handful of the discoveries that wildlife biologist Liz Bonnin is making on her mission to discover the world’s most bizarre animal pairings.

On the surface, this is an hour of cute animals doing cute things, but there’s more to it than that. Bonnin, with the help of other experts, explains the various reasons – misguided mothering instinct, the urge to play – why these animals are seemingly defying nature. This is an informative documentary as well as being family-friendly viewing, and if you do find the cutesiness a bit much, there’s always the weird duck/cat combo to balance things out.
