A particularly dark finale for this season-closer as Arto’s trip to Italy leaves him with much more trouble than he bargained for. But who exactly is he dealing with? The Mafia? Or something even more terrifying? And how does this relate to the trafficked women who were so gruesomely dispatched in the opening episode?

It’s a fine, twisting and emotionally involving case – if there’s a quibble it’s that, as usual, it’s harder to care about the travails of the individual unit members whose parenthood and marital issues rumble on in somewhat less involving fashion. But what of the unit itself? Hultin was facing an impossible choice, but might the decision be taken out of her hands by circumstances beyond her control?
