Series one, episode eight
The fish entrails bode ill and the conspirators are gathering. The omens aren’t good for Florence, so it looks like Leonardo (Tom Riley) is making the right decision by planning to bugger off to the Canary Islands with his two dimwit mates. But with Riario looming menacingly, will our hero be able to live with himself if he simply walks away? Of course not.
This series finale manages a climactic cliff-hanger, of sorts. But whether or not it really deserves its recently announced second series is moot. It’s trashy, gory fun, but there isn’t much going on beneath the elegantly ruffled surface. Still, Leo hasn’t even painted anything yet, so there’s no shortage of material left to exploit.
