Game of Thrones

Series three, episode ten
Will there ever be another sunrise? Is this the end of hope? How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable seem all the uses of this world! These – and other equally gloomy and Shakespearian musings – must be going through the minds of every ‘Game of Thrones’ viewer following last week’s cataclysmic catastrophe.

This final episode, then, must be about picking up the pieces, as those who commissioned the foul deed toast their triumph – expect Cersei Lannister to go around with a big shit-eating grin for the full hour – while those affected try to figure out what in the world they’re going to do now (whither Arya and her unlikely protector?).

Those familiar with George RR Martin’s source novels know there’s one more big, bloody surprise waiting in the wings, but it seems the show’s producers may decide to postpone that happy event until next season. Til death us do part, indeed…
