Reading Festival Live

The final festival of the BBC summer gets underway tonight in the form of lager-branded youth-rock apocalypse, Reading. Very much like the 2012 Olympics – which we assume Reading 2013 will resemble fairly strongly – proceedings will be opened by Frank Turner. Frank will be followed by Bastille, Dan Smith’s alt rock vehicle whose lyrical subject matter ranges from ‘Twin Peaks’ to Pompeii. Later on, evergreen Cali punk trio Green Day will be wondering if we still have the time to listen to them whine. Presumably, we do.

Tomorrow, look out for turns from art-funkers turned arena rockers Foals, festival perennials Chase & Status and latest voice of the kids Jake Bugg. Fall Out Boy, Disclosure, Haim and the mystifyingly huge Biffy Clyro will be rounding things off on Sunday.
