T in the Park is renowned as the UK’s filthiest festival, but the shit’s mostly on the stage this weekend, at least as far as TV coverage is concerned. Tonight kicks off at 9.30pm with the twin ubiquities of 2012-13, guitar-slinging Jake Bugg and Olympics-owning Emeli Sandé. Mumford & Sons look to make amends for their lacklustre Glastonbury slot at 10pm before Chase and Status play out the night.
Saturday features Danny O’Donoghue’s by-numbers pop rockers The Script and all-round entertainer Mr Rascal at 9.30pm, with Rihanna and Calvin Harris bombarding eardrums later on, while The Killers, David Guetta and Labrinth make a thoroughly underwhelming Sunday night line-up to close out proceedings from 9.30pm. It’s almost enough to make you wish the Stones were playing – or that the BBC had been a bit more astute in their choices. Why not Kraftwerk, Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Frank Ocean?
