The rooftop bar that started it all, the Mondrian's Skybar still retains its secret Sunset Strip entryway, complete with dress to impress entry and nightlife cred—this is one of the rare poolside bars where people really do jump in after a night of cocktails. The all-ages crowd ranges from wide-eyed ingénues to aging Robert Evans types, but no matter where you fall in the spectrum, the Mexican-style oasis of flowering walls and gorgeous nooks win you over, especially with mojito in hand.

Came here on a rainy February evening and even with the tent up there's a great vibe here at the back of the Mondrian hotel. Walk past the swimming pool and loungers up the stairs into the bar with one massive booth seating area and order a drink that's actually pretty reasonable for the setting. The house G and T was super tasty and then we sat in the booths by the windows enjoying a stunning city lights view of Downtown and South LA. You can also enjoy a go on the swing in the hotel lobby on the way out. A really chilled vibe on a Sunday night but probably heaving at weekends.

Even though we have several rooftop bars in town at the moment, the Skybar started it all. This staple of LA nightlife still delivers with an unforgettable setting, great service and memorable cocktails.

I recently tried their latest seasonal cocktails, all of which captured the warmth and crispness of the winter season with so much flavor.

The Pear Fete with Grey Goose La Poire Vodka, Rekorderlig Pear Cider, St. Germaine liqueur, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and a crunch Asian pear garnish is refreshing and light.

The Redheaded Mule is a wonderful riff on the Moscow Mule with muddled raspberries in the vodka, lemon and ginger mix. It's both spicy and tart while remaining light and fruity.

Finally, the Black Apple offers a warm, cozy vibe with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Liquid Alchemist Spiced Apple, lemon juice and black walnut bitters. I loved the multi colored apple garnishes on these too.

The inviting lounge and poolside seating with a view of the city are the optimal ways to enjoy the drinks.

Skybar is annoying pretentious at night; but it is an oasis on the occasion of daytime parties.

It's cool to just hang out and see the city views it offers with a drink and great company.
