Tonga Hut tiki takeover at General Lee's
Time Out says
What happens when L.A.'s oldest tiki bar takes over Chinatown's best bar? We're about to find out because Tonga Hut is headed to General Lee's Bamboo Room in Mandarin Plaza for a night of wild, tropical cocktails and neighborhood bites.
Tonga Hut's Marie King will be shaking up a tiki menu from 6 to 10pm, and after that, there'll be live music as the General Lee's team gets back behind the bar to unveil their own special, limited-run tiki menu—which includes two tea-infused concoctions in collaboration with Chinatown's new teahouse, Steep LA.
Tiki drinks tend to be strong, so you'll need something to pad your stomach. Fortunately neighboring café Lately will be there with salt-and-cinegar popcorn, avocado toast, and pineapple-ginger chicken wings, while Steep will bring their braised pork rice and sesame chicken cold noodle bowls. Tropical eats? Check. A two-for-one bar night with old- and new-school tiki drinks? Double check.
