3 happy hours on the Westside to catch a Daylight Saving sunset

Not much can beat sipping a refreshing post-work beer or cocktail as the sun sets over the Pacific and the LA smog illuminates a sky with colors that make the scene look completely photoshopped. Rooftop bars are the place to be as it stays lighter later into the night. If you live or work on the Westside, or just happen to be in the neighborhood, check out the drinks menu and the beautiful setting at these three spots.

1. Beachside Restaurant at Jamaica Bay Inn. Dogs, deals and a damn nice setting. If you haven't seen your pup all day but want some happy hour fun, this is your spot because the back patio overlooking Mother's Beach is pet-friendly. Just remember, it's the Jamaica Bay Inn...not actually Jamaica. Even with heat lamps, it can get cool, so bring a coat.

2. Hotel Erwin. So, drinks may be a little pricier here than in other spots, but you can't beat the view from the High Rooftop Lounge. Not just the sunset over the Pacific, but you'll get a panoramic of the entire city. It can get cold and windy at night, but if you haven't learned that SoCal winter lesson to always bring a coat, High has blankets for snuggling.

3. Hotel Casa del Mar. You've got to get to a happy hour literally called Catch the Sunset. Bonus: $2-7 sushi rolls and starters and $5 drink specials. This is a great spot during the summer if you're planning on hitting up the Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier.
