In just a couple of years, Hollywood has swung from that traffic-choked, tourist-clogged place that you venture to only if you must, to one of the most rapidly changing an desirable areas in the city. Sunset Boulevard has become the epicenter of a hotel, condo and business boom—and this latest project checks all three of those boxes.

Crossroads Hollywood, a massive mixed-use project next to the historic Crossroads of the World plaza, will take over three blocks of Hollywood with nine buildings, three of them 20-story-plus towers.

The plans, of which updated renderings were released last week, call for a 26-story hotel tower with 308 rooms, a 30-story condo tower with 190 units and a 32-story office tower with 760 units.

For anyone not interested in plunking down cash on a hotel, condo or office, the standout of the project will be a pedestrian paseo that connects the historic Crossroads of the World with the newly developed property.

The updated renderings of the $500 to $600 million project coincide with the release of the draft environmental impact report, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Details of the project first came out in 2015, with an updated look unveiled in 2016. Check out the subtle evolution of the project's renderings below.

Though today the Crossroads are just office space, they were built in 1936 by Streamline Moderne architect Robert V. Derrah as a cutting-edge outdoor office and shopping complex. Though the adjacent high-rise towers are certainly a far cry from its more low-profile origins, the mixed-use project aligns the Crossroads a bit closer to its buzzing heyday.

Any unexpected planning hiccups aside, Crossroads Hollywood could open as early as 2022.
