While national news outlets scoff at the idea of Grand Avenue becoming LA's Champs-Élysées, we're too busy making the most of the Downtown street's cultural treasures. In fact, there's an entire afternoon this weekend dedicated to the street's museums and performance centers.

On Saturday, 11 organizations and institutions will celebrate their Bunker Hill home with free performances, exhibitions and tours as part of Grand Ave Arts: All Access. Most of the action takes place between Temple and Third streets, with the exception of To Live and Dine in LA at the Central Library.

Highlights include an architectural tour of the Broad and a sound installation in its leafy plaza; performance hall tours, crafts and photo ops as well as an open rehearsal by the LA Opera orchestra at the Music Centera Day of the Dead celebration at Grand Park; free admission to MOCA; student performances at the Colburn School; a special screening of Great Performances and concerts by the Los Angeles Master Chorale at the Walt Disney Concert Hall; children's film screenings at REDCAT; and an appearance by the LA Phil's VAN Beethoven.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, and though paid parking is plentiful in that area, we highly suggest taking Metro to the Civic Center/Grand Park station.
