The days of throwing a good ol' fashioned bake sale in your front yard have passed for many of us, but we still feel a little twinge of nostalgia when we pass one on the street. This weekend, a Silver Lake bake sale is appealing to the music-loving grownup in all of us with pies, macaroons, tarts and cupcakes inspired by legendary musicians—and it's all for a good cause.

Frosting on the Beater is a music-themed bake sale taking place on Saturday, November 5 from noon to 3pm at Dangerbird Records (3801 Sunset Blvd). It's a cool idea: vendors will sell their artist-inspired goods while the net proceeds go toward Sweet Relief Musician's Fund, an organization that offers uninsured musicians health insurance and helps working musicians with healthcare costs.

So what kind of sweet treats are you going to find on Saturday? It's a killer lineup: Alabama Shakes-inspired pies from Hello Sweetie Pies; Brown Butter Soul donuts (inspired by Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul album) from Sidecar Doughnuts; ice cream flavors from Salt & Straw that draw on Frank Ocean, the Cramps and Falco; Cinnamon Girl scones (inspired by Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl) from Milk Jar Cookies and plenty more. Over 10 vendors will be at the event to sell their goods, and there will be a special performance by L.A.-based band Blonde Summer.

Desserts, music, helping artists out with health insurance—that sounds like a pretty productive Saturday to us. See you there!
