It has been almost two decades since the release of the first Harry Potter novel—and the global sensation that followed—but it seems like pop culture is going through a wave of wizarding nostalgia. Add to the list of new books, plays and theme park attractions, a pair of special events at Segerstrom Center for the Arts that are sure to enchant Potter-ites of all ages—as long as they also happen to be symphony-lovers.

At “The Magic and Music of Harry Potter,” on October 22, the Pacific Symphony will perform selections of music from each of the films and other pieces inspired by the Potter universe. The kid-friendly event will also have a magician and a Musical Carnival for little ones to play with instruments, meet performers and do themed arts and crafts. Don’t forget to break out your cape; concert-goers are encouraged to dress in costumes.

Several weeks later, and perhaps slightly more geared for an adult fan, Segerstrom Hall will screen Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in a grand, 15th anniversary tribute, with the movie on a giant screen, projected behind a full symphony who will be playing John Williams’ Oscar-nominated score live as the film goes along.

Or, if you're more about the spells than the symphonies, you could always just drop by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios any time you please.

The Magic and Music of Harry Potter takes place on October 22 at 10am; tickets are $15 to $40. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert takes place at 7:30pm on November 11 and 12 and 1pm on November 12 and 13; ticket prices range from $49 to $99. Both events take place at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.
