Hotel Figueroa closed for renovations last fall, but the Downtown boutique hotel has been ramping up for a reopening at the end of November. Swapping out its Moroccan theme for a more contemporary, Spanish-style vibe, the property has upped its "wow" factor with an enhanced pool, 268 updated rooms and a kickass food and drink program from some of the best culinary and cocktail minds in the business.

According to the LA Times, James Beard Award nominee Casey Lane will be heading up the Figueroa's two restaurants, while Dushan Zaric will be handling its four bars (including a new pool bar). Lane is the owner and executive chef of the Tasting Kitchen in Venice, while Zaric is best known for his standout New York cocktail bar, Employees Only.

It's an exciting addition to the hotel, drinking and dining scene in Downtown Los Angeles, which has exploded at an exponential rate in the past couple of years. Hotel Figueroa has been a resident of the neighborhood for quite some time—it was built in 1926 by the YWCA—but the update will likely put it in the same category as the Ace and the Standard for visitors who are looking to stay in more modern digs Downtown.
