How many cat cafés does LA need? Two, apparently.

Did you ever think a city needed one, nevermind two, cat cafés? I didn't either, although apparently L.A. is gearing up for a couple with the recent announcement of CatCafe Lounge, a feline-centric café that plans to open at 11913 Washington Boulevard in Culver City next year. With the impending September 30 opening of Crumbs & Whiskers on Melrose, it begs the question: how many cat cafés is too many?

In an interview with Eater, CatCafe Lounge owner Kristi Galvan describes the space as being a true non-profit café, one where the cost of entry and refreshments will be funneled directly back into the organization's mission of adopting, fostering and housing the animals. CatCafe Lounge will offer coffee, tea and kombucha on tap (at Crumbs & Whiskers, the drinks will be transported from nearby coffee shop Open Space). Pastries and vegan dishes will also be on the menu, and the cats will be able to roam freely throughout the lounge. If that doesn't sound epic enough, there's this promotional video to get Angelenos amped:

As for Crumbs & Whiskers, visitors will soon be able to stop by the cat café in slots of 75 minutes for $22. And if you fall in love with a particular feline? All of the cats are available for adoption, so you can take a little one home, switch on the coffee maker and fashion your own cat café. Just, you know, maybe be careful of scalding liquids around skittish cats.
