The Strokes just announced a show in LA—and we’re already marking our calendars. Not only will the concert be their only LA date in 2016, it’s also a benefit for an important cause. Billed as City of Angels Benefit Concert, the July 25 event will raise money for nonprofits that address local homelessness.

On sale Thursday, July 7 at noon, the price for general admission to the concert at the Wiltern will run $125.

“Homelessness and mental health are big issues in LA and we’re happy to do a little something that can hopefully help a bit,” band leader Julian Casablancas shared in a press release announcing the concert.

All of the proceeds from ticket sales will be divided among three beneficiaries: The Center in Hollywood, Waste Not Want Not Now and the Downtown Women’s Center. All of them do valuable work in the community, each with a specific way they focus on serving the needs of the city’s homeless crisis. The Center in Hollywood focuses on bringing a multi-disciplinary approach, incorporating art, poetry, addiction recovery and wellness activities to encourage engagement and reentry into the housing system. Waste Not Want Not Now collects discarded food from stores and restaurants to combat rampant food waste and feed the hungry. The Downtown Women’s Center addresses the particular needs of women living on Skid Row, helping them with safe housing and support services.

As Consequence of Sound reports, this concert will be hot on the heels of the release of the band’s new EP, Future Present Past, giving the LA audience a chance to hear the new material right away—and should negate any FOMO felt by any Angelenos who envied their NYC friends who caught the band's recent Governors Ball performance.
