Therapy dogs will help passengers cope on a record-breaking weekend at LAX

LAX is set to be one of the busiest airports in the country this Thanksgiving, with estimates that more than 2.3 million passengers will come and go between today and Monday. That’s almost nine percent more travelers than last year, and last year was a record-breaker. So, we hate to be the one to tell you, but if the thought of delays, traffic and assorted airport craziness already had you worrying, there’s a good chance it will probably actually be even worse than ever before.

If things really don’t go your way at the airport, don’t let the anxiety lead to a meltdown (after all, all 232,000 of us at LAX today are in this together). Instead, seek out one of the stress therapy dogs that will be roaming the facility courtesy of a group known as PUP: Pets Unstressing Passengers. Handlers and therapy dogs in red jackets will be looking out for your mental health and offering puppy breaks to cheer you up when you hear the announcement that your flight has been delayed yet again.

The dogs and their handlers are all volunteers, just pitching in to keep everybody feeling positive. Who doesn’t feel better with a cute dog around, right?

Of course, if dog therapy isn’t enough to help you survive this year’s LAX horror show, there’s always the airport bar. Or, when all else fails, feeling smug that at least you’re not driving to your destination.

Check out some of the adorable pups you might see at the airport this weekend!
