Friday

Start your weekend in Griffith Park for the return of Odd Nights, a night market at the Autry packed with everything imaginable—beer gardens, live music, bounce castles, more than 200 artisan vendors—and then some (i.e. horse parking, yes, horse parking).

Afterward, choose between two comedy shows. Laugh it up at the Improv for Stand Up! For Girls, a benefit for the REALgirl Foundation. The show's headliners include John Mulaney, Pete Holmes, Aisha Tyler, Jamie Lee, Joe Sib and Bridget Phetasy.

Alternatively, head to NerdMelt for another installment of Andy Kindler's Particular Show. The frustrated, self-defeated comedian is worth seeing in his own right, but Friday night's show has a can't-miss lineup with sets from Thomas Middleditch, Jerrod Carmichael, Neil Hamburger and more.

Saturday

Start your Saturday with a splash in the pristine waters of the LA River. Alright, so it's not quite there yet, but do your part in restoring the river during the Great Los Angeles River CleanUp. The first of three weekend work-play sessions, Saturday's event focuses on four spots in the San Fernando Valley.

Not heading to Coachella? Take advantage of free concerts, limited edition re-releases and discounted albums at record stores throughout the city during Record Store Day. Swing by Amoeba in the late afternoon for performances by Lance Rock and Fred Armisen, plus a DJ set from Best Coast across the street at Space15Twenty.

Celebrate all things weird and wonderful during Obscura Day. The offbeat adventurers at Atlas Obscura have planned an international day of tours, hikes and meet-ups; around LA, you can do anything from a behind-the-scenes look at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater to a Jeepney tour of Filipinotown. The day wraps up with an early evening after party at the Valley Relics Museum.

Apparate over to Glendale's Moonlight Rollerway for the fifth annual Harry Potter Roller Skating Night. Lace up your Muggle skates, roll around the not-Quidditch pitch and down some Butterbeer at this public meet-up from fan group Dumbledore's Army.

If you're into robes but not of the wizarding variety, then slip into something high-fashion yet low-effort and dance the night away at Kaftan Discothèque. As the name implies, kaftans are required at this free-flowing Upstairs disco.

Sunday

Whether you're toting kids or just totally into puppets, make your way to the Skirball on Sunday as it hosts its annual, kid-friendly Puppet Festival. Though advance tickets are sold out, a limited number of walk-ups will be available.

Stop by LACMA for the final day of the campus-spanning Diana Thater: The Sympathetic Imagination, where the Los Angeles-based video artist has blanketed the gallery walls with nature scenes and Instagram-friendly projections.

There are those who read all three 50 Shades books in one weekend and those who titled their two-star Amazon reviews, "Did a Teenager Write This???" If you're part of the latter, wrap up your weekend at Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction. The comedy event at the Virgil features 10 comics reading their own erotica based on improv and audience suggestions.
