Friday

Cozy up to over 55 craft brews during Friday night's Brew at the Zoo, the LA Zoo's annual after-hours beer-centric party. Feel free to explore the zoo grounds while you're there, but be aware that some of the animals may be sleeping—they're not the partying type. Splurge on a VIP ticket if you want food included as well.

Still hungry? Drive into the SGV for this month's 626 Night Market. The massive Asian food market spans the course of Santa Anita Park's front Paddock Gardens, with street food, booze peddlers and live entertainment until 1am.

Saturday

Wake up with an embroidery class at the Gamble House on Saturday. Designer Jenny Hart leads this beginners workshop atop the second floor sleeping porch; you'll be making a small (and easy-to-stitch) portrait of a former Gamble House staff member to mark this summer's Upstairs-Downstairs Tour.

Celebrate the opening of Esqueleto, an eclectic jewelry store by way of Oakland, with music, cocktails and tacos from Guisados. Shop the Echo Park store's selection of fine jewelry, artwork and both handcrafted and natural objects; you'll be able to get 10% off any purchases during the event.

Come gather 'round the campfire for Campfireball, a free variety show, lecture series and participatory art project—all rolled into one. Tonight's show at the LA River-adjacent Frog Spot focuses on memory and nostalgia; the rest of the lineup is a secret. As the free show's tagline suggests: just show up.

Pop into LACMA late at night so you can go watch a clock. No, seriously: Christian Marclay's The Clock is screening for 24 hours straight, starting today at 10am. The daylong video takes scenes of clocks and watches from movies and mashes them up into a single real-time film; you can pop in at any time during the day and, best of all, it's free.

Sunday

Make your way to the Westside as CicLAvia rides through Culver City, Mar Vista and Venice today. The car-free, bike-friendly fest is taking over 6 miles of streets with performances, vendors and all sorts of general whimsy. Brush up on our favorite things to see and do along the route, and make sure to stop by the Mar Vista Farmers' Market hub to grab one of our discount-filled spoke cards—you know, only if you want a free drink from Alley.

If you're not up for all that pedaling, spend your day Downtown, starting with the Unique LA Summer Market. Take your pick among all things handmade, from cutesy stationary to artisan candles, at this upscale craft fair.

Afterwards, hit up Angel City Brewery for their annual Avocado Festival. Sip the brewery's limited batch avocado ale while sampling more all-avocado-everything dishes, from tacos to popsicles.

Wrap up your weekend at the Regent Theater for To Live and Dine in LA: A Live Mixtape. USC Professor Josh Kun and hometown chef Roy Choi continue their live appearances in support of the Central Library's exhibition about the LA's modernization through the lens of food menus. The twist here: Rakaa Iriscience of local hip-hop group Dilated Peoples provides backing beats for the presentation; other guests include legendary TV producer Norman Lear, KCRW's Evan Kleiman, poets, opera singers and more.
