Friday

Always look on the bright side of life Friday night as Spamalot hits the Hollywood Bowl. It's not quite a full-fledged return of Monty Python to the Bowl, but Eric Idle himself will be joining a cast that includes Warwick Davis, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Craig Robinson and Christian Slater.

If you're up for some more feature-length sitting, take a futuristic adventure through space at the Nuart with a screening of Cowboy Bebop. This Japan-based animated TV show turned movie promises an action-filled cocktail of cowboys, space travel, terrorists, and bounty hunters.

Saturday

Take a Downton Abbey-esque tour of Pasadena's handsome Gamble House with the return of its Upstairs-Downtowns tours. In addition to the usual spaces, this limited-time, 90-minute provides access into the laundry and coal rooms as well as the surprisingly beautiful servants' quarters.

Afterwards, celebrate the midpoint of summer—or "summah" according to comedian and podcast host Howard Kremer—at Summahfest. Swing by NerdMelt in the afternoon for water slides, free beer and water balloon fights; stay into the evening for a set of stand-up and improv shows.

Head on over to the Autry as Eat|See|Hear screens Wet Hot American Summer. Not only is the outdoor film series showing the cult classic camp movie, but it'll also be screening the first episode of the new Netflix show with director David Wain and a handful of cast members on-hand to introduce it.

And of course, speaking of outdoor movies, here's your rundown of the rest of tonight's film schedule: Electric Dusk Drive-In shows Raiders of the Lost Ark, Cinespia screens Apocalypse Now, the Valley Cultural Center pretends its Taco Tuesday with The Lego Movie and Street Food Cinema screens both Dirty Dancing and Office Space.

Sunday

Add a new furry friend to your family on Sunday at the Great Escape Pet Adoption Drive. The adorably tongue-lolling Marnie the Dog will be lounging in Moorpark Park alongside some older pups up for adoption. While you're there, make sure to enter a raffle for FYF tickets.

Just up the street at North Hollywood's Republic of Pie, you can celebrate National Coloring Book Day—because of course it's a thing. Join other full-grown adults with your coloring utensil of choice to shade in some meditative mandalas courtesy of artist Rozine.

Wrap up your weekend at REDCAT for the performance space's annual New Original Works Festival. See what’s cutting edge in the city’s vibrant performing arts scene during the opening weekend program; performances include contemporary Indian dance, a highly choreographed video-meets-dance performance and an indie rock-inspired suite about pop stardom.
