Time Out says

Sleek without falling into sterility, The Kimpton Everly Hotel brings just enough warmth to its modern digs to feel both familiar and like a Hollywood escape. The decor strikes a balance between the consistency of a major hotel group like IHG and enough boutique flair to avoid feeling like an airport hotel, and while guests feel encouraged to explore, your creature comforts are never too far away (including actual creatures through the hotel’s inclusive pet policy).

A less than 10 minute walk from sights like the Pantages Theatre, the stay, which is in the shadow of the Capitol Records building, provides a new rooftop pool and revamped restaurant bar that are just as likely to be filled with people who share the hotel’s zip code as those who checked in with a passport. Here’s what we thought of the Kimpton Everly Hotel.

What are the rooms like at Kimpton Everly?

Entering my King guest room, I was immediately drawn to a picture window view of the Hollywood Sign and sloping Hollywood Hills. With the common areas on the first few floors, every room features massive windows offering hillside or city views. The room itself reads a bit plain, but it’s okay—the view does all the heavy lifting.

The frosted, sliding bathroom door paired with the dimmable globe lights lends a moody, Tokyo vibe to an otherwise neutral room, and spa suites offer soaker or clawfoot tubs with a similar but larger layout. You have everything you need to stay clean and moisturized, but if you’ve forgotten anything, a quick call to the front desk will get you that free tube of toothpaste or curling iron in no time.

What’s the food like at Kimpton Everly?

At Jane Q, a café that doubles as the room service kitchen from 7am to 2pm, floor-to-ceiling windows bathe (and occasionally bake) the space in sunlight. Though the full Jane Q Breakfast is tempting, even with its $27 price tag, humbler menu items like their breakfast sandwich and selection of pastries execute simplicity well and get your day off to the right start.

Formerly Ever Bar, Written Hand offers surprisingly robust and filling portion sizes including a burrata salad so well-balanced you’ll start ignoring your perfectly cooked hangar steak. The signature cocktails skew towards the traditional Hollywood sweetness with a crowd-pleasing rather than cloying effect. Most of the menu is also available for in-room dining after 5pm.

The Scene rooftop pool and bar offers a leaner menu on the snackier side, but its claim to fame are its off-menu boozy popsicles dropped into chilled glasses of wine.

What pool services and activities are available at the hotel?

The newly opened rooftop pool The Scene has a Goldilocks appeal—not as small as some of downtown’s paddling pools nor as expansive as some of Beverly Hills’ sprawling oases. A handful of shaded cabanas, including a more private, offset area, and roughly a couple dozen lounge chairs surround the decent sized pool with Hollywood views. A separate sun deck on the same floor gets you out of the splash zone and into more communal seating.

While there’s an onsite gym, complete with Peloton bikes and a rowing machine, the destination fee grants access to their hotel bikes (which you can pair with the available picnic boxes) to get your blood pumping out in the city instead.

A social hour in the lobby from 5pm–6pm provides a chance for solo travelers to mingle over a free glass of wine while the Written Hand’s happy hour from 3pm–6pm offers discounted drinks and bar bites for those liminal daytime hours on a vacation.

Where in Hollywood is Kimpton Everly?

The Kimpton Everly Hotel allows you to be a short walk away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Pantages Theatre, the historic record store Amoeba Music, and even the Hollywood/Vine Metro stop without being in the middle of Hollywood’s noise and chaos. You get to leave the electricity on Hollywood Boulevard and retreat above it all at the base of the Hills.

Why should you book a stay at Kimpton Everly?

If you love traveling with your pets and want to see the sights of Hollywood without dealing with the underbelly of Hollywood, The Kimpton Everly’s simplicity is actually a balm to an overstimulating day in the city. You can be as pretentious or casual as your trip demands and have reliably good meals, drinks, and places to unwind.
