Though most visitors flock to Hollywood and Beverly Hills, not all L.A. visits involve a whirlwind tour of Los Angeles attractions. If you're visiting USC, attending a Rams game or catching an upcoming concert at the Forum, consider a stay nearby at one of the best hotels in South L.A. and Inglewood.

This high-rise hotel hosts the closest accommodations to both USC and Exposition Park. If you'll be spending most of your time at either of those two destinations, forget about needing a car, especially with a Metro stop and cluster of fast casual chains next door. Rooms are clean and spacious, though no matter where you are you'll be facing a busy street or the freeway. Though Wi-Fi is free, you'll have to pay about $25 per night for parking.

This Vagabond Inn sits right across the street from the Shrine Auditorium, just around the corner from USC and a short drive or Metro ride to Downtown. Though it's a straightforward motel from the outside, the rooms are clean and comfortable, especially for the price. Reservations include free breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi.

Located just on the other side of the freeway from the rows of hotels that pave the way to LAX, these comfortable accommodations offer a short commute to the airport. Though the area is unremarkable, you'll find free Wi-Fi, breakfast and—most conveniently—shuttle service to and from LAX. If you're driving, though, you'll have to pay for parking.

There's nothing wrong with staying at a solid cheap hotel, but sometimes you want the very best. What exactly gives a resort the distinction of being one of the best hotels in Los Angeles? Is it being by one of L.A.'s best beaches? Or proximity, whether by foot, train or car, to the top Los Angeles attractions? Is it a room so decadently comfortable that you never want to leave? Or a top-notch hotel brunch? These accommodations manage to check those marks and more to earn a spot in our list of the very best hotels in Los Angeles.
