Snow above the Valley

It’s going to be rainy and bitterly cold in L.A. tomorrow

Believe it or not, it might even snow in lower mountain elevations.

It sounds completely improbable considering today’s summer-like weather but meteorologists are warning about an imminent drop in temperatures in the next 24 hours that will come along with rain showers, possible thunderstorms and snow levels as low as 3,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

More specifically, starting Thursday and through Friday, high temperatures are expected drop down into the 50s in most parts of L.A., and as low as the 30s in the mountains.

Just to drive the point home further, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for “most mountain areas above 3,000 feet” that’s in effect from late Thursday to Friday evening. Moreover, Friday’s forecast also brings the potential for thunderstorms, small hail and the potential for snow levels to drop to 2,000 feet in some spots.

Although we’re not completely shocked by the rain-related news, the near-freezing temperatures and potential for low elevation snow are certainly an anomaly around here this time of the year. Alas, we’ve got to roll with the punches, so dust off your rain boots, pick up that umbrella and prepare to be met with a gust of wet wind whenever you leave your house tomorrow.
