The rock star was just announced as a surprise Saturday performer in the festival’s Mojave tent. Here’s what to know.

It’s been a big week for Jack White. After Saturday Night Live delighted audiences last weekend by pairing host Jack Black and musical guest Jack White, the former White Stripes frontman dropped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, announced a fall tour (including two L.A. dates at the Hollywood Palladium and one at the Fox Theater in Pomona) and was revealed as a surprise performer for the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, taking place in the desert April 10 to 12 and April 17 to 19.
Though the headliners for this year’s music festival—Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G and Anyma—are primarily pop artists, there is some rock royalty in attendance. White joins the likes of the Strokes and fellow Detroit icon Iggy Pop (no pun intended) on the bill. Here’s everything we know—and a few things we predict—about his performance before he takes the stage once again at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
Jack White is scheduled to play in the (relatively midsize) Mojave tent on Saturday, April 11. So far, he’s only been confirmed to play the first weekend of the fest—and if the past few years are any indication, there will likely be a different last-minute surprise act added to the second weekend.
White will take stage as the first Saturday performer in the Mojave tent, playing from 3pm to 3:45pm.
Yes, White has a long-running history with the festival. He headlined as a solo performer in 2015, but before then he played with each of his different bands. The White Stripes played the fest way back in 2003—which was just the fourth edition of the fest. In 2008, he performed with the Raconteurs, and in 2010, he performed as part of yet another act, the Dead Weather.
No official setlist has been confirmed. However, fans can probably expect to hear White’s two brand-new singles, “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico,” which he just performed on SNL. He’s bound to play tracks from his most recent album, No Name, too, which was one of Time Out’s best albums of 2024. And you can expect some older hits as well—”Seven Nation Army” and “Steady as She Goes” are usually sure things in a White show.
No guests have been officially announced, but Coachella is known for surprise appearances. Although, since White himself is a surprise performer, that may be all the excitement needed for his relatively short sets.
Yes. Coachella is live streaming seven stages on YouTube, so you can tune into the feed for the Mojave tent on Saturday afternoon below. Though White is playing live at 3pm, the live stream doesn’t kick off each day until 4pm, so you can watch his set with a slight delay, from 4pm to 4:45pm.
Friday’s lineup features the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Anyma and KATSEYE, and joining White on Saturday’s lineup is Justin Bieber, the Strokes, Interpol, Giveon, Addison Rae, Labrinth and PinkPantheress, among others. Then on Sunday, Karol G takes top billing, alongside Young Thug, Iggy Pop, FKA twigs, Clipse and more.
