A few months ago, we reported on the start of construction for a high-speed rail line set to connect Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Today, we’ve got new renderings to show you, featuring a 30-foot-long sleek new train model complete with a lounge car that’s the stuff of travel dreams.

But there’s more: Brightline West recently announced that the production facility behind the buildout will be in New York.

“We’ve said from the start that Brightline West will plant the flag for high-speed rail in America and will lay the foundation for a new industry with unimaginable economic benefits,” said Michael Reininger, the CEO of Brightline, in an official statement. “For the first time ever in the U.S., we will be manufacturing trains that will compete with the best in the world. Reaching speeds of over 200 mph, these trains will be marked by the latest innovations designed for the modern traveler and establishing a new benchmark in transportation.”

As seen in the renderings, the train—which will run between Las Vegas and not-quite-in-L.A. Rancho Cucamonga—will feature a classy lounge, comfortable high-end seats and an overall polished look.

Brightline West’s goal is to be operational in 2028, in time for the Summer Olympics in L.A.
