For some, this might be the real festival headliner.

The most mythical drink of the Instagram era is back. Well, kinda.

Starbucks announced that it will revive its long-gone, much-photographed Unicorn Frappuccino exclusively at Coachella this month, marking the drink’s first official return since its viral debut nearly a decade ago.

But here’s the catch: The nostalgia-bait beverage won’t just be limited to the festival. It will also be available for only a short window each day both weekends, making it one of the most elusive menu items the chain has ever offered.

Originally released between April 19–25 back in 2017, the Unicorn Frappuccino became an instant social media phenomenon thanks to its color-shifting pink-and-blue layers and sweet-meets-sour flavor profile. The drink’s brief run—and the chaos it caused in stores—cemented its status as both a pop culture punchline and a cult favorite.

Since then, rumors of its return have circulated endlessly online, but Starbucks has largely kept it locked in the vault. Until now.

At Coachella, festivalgoers will be able to snag the Unicorn Frappuccino alongside a lineup of more standard offerings like cold brew and matcha drinks, as part of Starbucks’ new role as an official festival sponsor with the Starbucks Coffeehouse at Coachella. The activation is part of a broader push by the company to lean into buzzy, high-visibility partnerships, and this glittery throwback definitely screams “viral moment.”

Still, don’t expect to stroll into your neighborhood Starbucks afterward and order one. The company has made it clear that the Unicorn Frappuccino will remain a hyper-limited, location-specific release, with no plans for a nationwide comeback.

That means Coachella-goers have one more urgent checklist item. Between the headliners, the heat and the inevitable lines, you’ll now also be racing the clock for a drink that disappears almost as quickly as it changes color.
