Time Out says

Stop by La Monarca’s Hollywood shop for a coffee and some sweets. Sit down at one of the wooden tables and sip one of their specialty coffees: Cafe Oaxaca (with Mexican chocolate) and Cafe Taxco (with whipped cream and cinnamon). If you’re in the mood for something more LA-traditional, don’t worry: there are enough cafe lattes, mochas, and espressos to go around (as well as cafe con leche). Make sure to order one (or five) of the small, 50-cent cookies to go with your coffee. If you’re stopping in for lunch, browse the pastry display as well as their afternoon and dinner menu, which includes salads, molletes and tortas.

La Monarca Bakery does a great job of bringing the Mexican style bakery to Americans. They offer an authentic taste of Mexican pastries as well as savory options and a variety of beverages.

One of the popular coffees, which seems to run out each afternoon, is the Cafe de Olla Cold Brew, a cold brew version of the traditional spiced Mexican coffee. The cinammon and brown sugar flavors make it even more refreshing.

They make a very good tres leches cake, with three different types of milk. The dulce de leche filled croissants are another specialty that is absolutely irresistable.
