The Lazy Rose Cafe (CLOSED)

Owned by Navy Reserve veteran and current Boeing analyst Erdavria Simpson, this florally inspired Black-owned café first opened in March 2022—and has been encouraging Mid-City locals to relax and take a break ever since. House espresso drinks like the lavender-infused Lazy Latte and the icy, rose-tinged Blush Brew add a mild sweetness to any caffeine fix, while pastries and other light bites add heft to any midday coffee break. In the spirit of rest, the Lazy Rose Cafe is closed on Sundays—since everyone, including café owners and their employees, should get a day off work.
