Take the crawl concept but make it more books, less booze. This weekend, the inaugural Los Angeles Book Crawl is encouraging L.A. shoppers to travel between as many indie bookstores as they can across the city. There are 13 in all participating in the event, from Studio City to Montrose to Manhattan Beach: Annabelle’s Book Club, the Book Jewel, Chevalier’s Books, Children’s Book World, DIESEL, Malik Books, Once Upon a Time, Pages: A Bookstore, the Ripped Bodice, Skylight Books, Village Well Books & Coffee, Vroman’s and (fingers crossed it can reopen in time post-water damage) Book Soup. Expect literary programming and author appearances along the way. When you spend $10 in each shop, you’ll get a stamp on your Book Crawl passport and earn prizes the more you visit. If you put in some serious mileage and visit all 13, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win $25 gift cards to all of the shops. For details about each of the shops and their respective hours, check the website.
