Time Out says

Discover the intersection between the medium of cinema and modern art at the Met's Short Films for Short Nights this weekend (July 7-9). Each day focuses on a different theme, starting with perceptions, then bodies, then systems. The film series showcases dozens of films, ranging in creation from 1896 and 1959, exploring how the advent of cinema opened new ways for people to experience and represent modern life, and how explorations in the medium influenced new art forms.

As the majority of films are silent, each screening will be scored by live performances by musicians and will feature remarks from museum curators to contextualize the films.
