Shania's Max Bet

Shania’s Max Bet is an Atlantic City/Shania Twain-themed bar occupying the former Dirty Precious space on 3rd Avenue. It tends closer to homage and evocation than outright theme, but the vision is clear and consistent enough that it stands out and calls attention to itself–hence its inclusion here. It’s just a fun bar in a great space with a ton of spirit–a place that seems to encourage the kind of abandon one must have when rolling the dice. Fire-engine-red banquettes line the walls under a mirrored disco ball hanging from the ceiling. Look closely to see the space beneath the bar entombing thousands of dice in resin. The bartenders encourage a good time, keeping the party buzzing with draft Midori sours and amaro espresso martinis. The owners are harkening back to the '80s, to AC trips, to a time when the bar scene in this part of Brooklyn was actually vibrant and fun. To that end, it stays open until 4am every night of the week, serving $10 beer-and-shot combos alongside natural wine long after the rest of the neighborhood shuts down.
