PotterCon brings magic lovers together at Irving Plaza for a day of childish fun, including Butterbeer, costume contests and trivia. We have all the details—if you’re the Hermione type, feel free to take notes, preferably with quill and parchment.
Live sorting
Put on the Sorting Hat to prove that you’re a Gryffindor once and for all. Or are you a Slytherin like all your exes said you were? After a first-year asks you a series of questions, you’ll find out.
House cup
Now that you’ve been sorted, join your brethren to compete for glory and honor. Almost everything you do at PotterCon (snap a picture, compete in trivia, etc.) earns you tickets that can be used as points to help win the House Cup!
Madam Malkin’s Robes For All Occasions costume contest
If you’re feeling Veela-level gorgeous, pay $5 and show off your best looks. All proceeds go to 826NYC, a nonprofit that helps students with their writing skills. (It’s like you’re a part of Dumbledore’s Army.)

Pour out some Butterbeer for the fallen wizards (and animals—RIP, Hedwig) of Harry Potter in this ceremony.

PotterCon has custom cocktails on deck, including Butterbeer (finally, you can taste those caramel undertones!), for your imbibing pleasure. Just watch your firewhiskey intake.
