Beat the heat in MoMA PS1’s cool pool

It’s beastly out there, no doubt about it, and if you’re one of those unfortunate New Yorkers without air conditioning, you’re probably asking yourself, How do I get out of this hot mess? While there are all kinds of ways to beat the heat without AC, consider one with an artsy twist: A wading pool at MoMA PS1.

Part of the museum’s annual Warm-Up festival, the pool is an element of Warm-Up’s installation centerpiece, Weaving the Courtyard, winner of this year’s Young Architects Program award. Designed by Escobedo Solíz Studio, the pool sits just off the work's main component, a woven canopy of brightly-colored cords stretched above MoMA PS1’s central courtyard.

The pool will be around until the end of summer, so there’s still plenty of time to go and get your feet wet.
