Black Seed is rolling out limited-edition bagel sandwiches starting next week

In New York City, a little schmear may be the most classic of bagel toppings, but Black Seed Bagels has partnered with cult favorite East Village noodle shop Little Tong for a fiery flavor combination unlike anything you'll find behind the typical deli counter.

Next month, starting on September 5, chef Simone Tong will be the restaurant's featured toque, bringing her signature spicy ghost chicken to a sandwich-friendly salad form at the beloved bagel counter as the first in its latest round of chef collabs. Each special sandwich will be on the menu for one month only, with a limited-run bagel to match. In this case, Black Seed's chefs have whipped up a chili and Szechuan peppercorn round to pair with Tong's Yunnan-style flavors.

The mini bagel empire is no stranger to innovation—the shop's yeast-activated chefs recently made waves for introducing a brand-new kind of bun that offers all the glory of a bagel (minus the hole) for a completely solid sandwich experience. Be sure to pop by one of its three locations before the new special is gone.
