For many New Yorkers, beer from Williamsburg's Brooklyn Brewery is a near-daily fixture, the brand's uber-popular lagers, pilsners and ales seeming to show up at every BBQ, potluck and house party. And in a couple of years, the brewery's presence in the city will grow—by thousands of square feet.

As rents in the company's native 'burg soar, the company made the decision in May to transfer its operations to BLDG 77, the public food hall that's slated to open in Brooklyn's waterfront Navy Yard next year. BB's suds will crafted in a spanking-new, 75,000-square-foot brewery, opening in February 2018, followed a few months later by a rooftop bar and restaurant expected to open that spring.

Located on the building's 16th floor, the 10,000-square-foot, glassed-in outdoor space will accommodate up to 600 drinkers at a time, with expansive views of the Manhattan skyline across the river. The brewery is reportedly in talks with the Brooklyn Grange, a local rooftop farm, about collaborating on landscaping that might include edible plants to be used in the restaurant's dishes.

BLDG 77's ground floor will include yet another Brooklyn Brewery beer hall, along with storefronts from fellow Williamsburg favorite Mast Brothers Chocolate and appetizing legend Russ & Daughters
