Whoever put National Ice Cream Day in the middle of July knew what they were doing. With temperatures soaring back to 90 degrees this weekend, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the cooling celebrations. On Sunday, July 19th, hail a Lyft to your nearest Blue Marble ice cream parlor and be treated to a free scoop—a perfect pit stop if you’re headed toward Cobble Hill or Prospect Heights. Just flash your Lyft receipt and you're good to go.
And all weekend-long, you can taste your way through 50 flavors from 14 vendors (OddFellows, Morgenstern's) at Brooklyn Flea's annual Ice Cream Bonanza. Taste a Mexican-style sundae from La Newyorkina, a Taiwanese shaved ice from Wooly’s or both—we’re not judging! On Saturday, July 18th, vendors will be slinging scoops at the Fort Greene Flea and then move over to Williamsburg on Sunday. There’s no wrong way to celebration this important national holiday except by not celebrating.
