You got mom an edible arrangement for Mother’s Day, why not try an Oedipal arrangement for Father’s Day?

“Living magazine” and art collective The Culture Whore is taking over divey East Village gay bar Eastern Bloc this Sunday for a disco-heavy Father’s Day blowout aptly titled, “Daddy”. Relaxed backyard barbecue this party is not.

“It’s the fantasy of having someone take care of you,” explains Culture Whore founder and co-director Mark Dommu of young gay men’s attraction to older guys. “There’s this trope of daddy and son relationships, but when you’re on Scruff or at The Eagle, all the daddies want is other daddies. We wanted to create a space where hot May/December relationships can actually happen.”

The Father’s Day bash, which starts at 11pm, is hosted by Big Dipper, Rify Royalty and Bond Hardware, and will feature music by W. Jeremy. In “honor of dads everywhere,” there will also be a hot dog eating contest with a $50 cash prize.

“The party kind of trolls the entire idea of ‘having a daddy,’” says Culture Whore co-director Paul Leopold. “It’s free, super chill and people can just stop by and have a drink. And there’s porn playing.”

After Sunday’s event, The Culture Whore will be devoting much of its energy to Pride party Oasis, taking place on June 26. The eight-hour party will feature live performances, art installations, DJs and more. Til then, they’re just looking to make their daddies proud.

“Father’s Day is all about honoring dads,” adds Dommu. “And what better what to do that than sucking off some hot muscle daddy in the bathroom at Eastern Bloc? I think that’s a lot better than getting your dad something from Sharper Image.”
