Check out Shakespeare performances inside a castle in Manhattan this summer

In case you can't get tickets to Shakespeare in the Park, here's another opportunity to witness the Bard's brilliant storytelling—inside a historic castle. (Yes, this is a must.)

Thespians from Shakespeare Downtown will perform Richard III at Castle Clinton Wednesday through Sunday this summer beginning June 14 until June 25. The fortress, located at Battery Park, is basically the perfect venue for such a performance since the circular, open-air landmark allows the audience to experience the playwright's art in a setting we think Willie Shakes would totally approve of.

Tickets for the ongoing performance are free, but you can only snag them during the evening of the show starting at 6pm. (Line up at Castle Clinton National Monument located at The Battery.) The play begins at 6:30pm.
