Adding to NYC's already deep pool of summer music festivals (Governor's Ball, Afropunk, this weekend's Panorama), the pro oenophiles behind City Winery are throwing their own: City Winery Open, a two-day music, wine and food fest to be held at Forest Hills Stadium on September 17 and 18.

The mixed-bag music lineup includes headlining soul legend Aretha Franklin and sun-soaking singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, along with undercard players like Gillian Welch, Dawes, the Wallflowers and Deer Tick. In between sets, enjoy plates from 40 New York chefs, including Daniel Boulud, Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster Harlem) and David Waltuck (formerly of élan), as well as wines from 75 global wineries.

Food and drink can be purchased using your wristband (the festival is a cash-free event) and are sold through a "taste" currency: Wines will be poured for one, two or three tastes, a pint of craft beer will set you back two and dishes can be purchased for one taste each. Top-up stations will be situated throughout the festival grounds in case you want to add more credits to your wristband onsite.
