Mad for Momofuku? David Chang, king of that beloved noodle juggernaut, expands his empire today with Fuku, a Chick-fil-A–esque standing-room–only chicken-sandwich shop housed in the original East Village location of Momofuku Noodle Bar. Chang's opening menu is super streamlined, focused on a sole $8 spicy fried-chicken sammy, built with Martin's potato rolls, pickles, fermented chickpea butter and chicken thighs marinated in habanero puree, coated in buttermilk and dredged in spices before taking a trip in the deep fryer.

Fries and a farro-and-kale salad join the sandwich, and soon, other between-the-bun creations like a cordon bleu-inspired number with Benton's ham and Swiss cheese. Even better, the joint has its liquor license, so expect Tecate, vodka sodas and daiquiris. For now, Fuku is open for lunch Wednesdays through Sundays from 11am to 4pm, but an educated guess says lines will be a-formin' for this one, so get there early.
