The Empire State Building is planning on celebrating the holiday weekend with a patriotic light display.

The NYC icon will shine its world-famous tower lights in red, white and blue flourishes in honor of Independence Day from Sunday, July 2 through Tuesday, July 4.

The skyscraper’s all-American temporary look should provide the perfect backdrop for this year’s Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show, which will take place not far from the building on barges close to Midtown in the East River this year. The new location marks a change from previous years when the annual fireworks were set off further down the river near the Financial District.

This weekend’s special lights come hot on the heels of the Empire State’s impressive rainbow display last weekend for Pride.
