Don't want to stand in the cold to watch the ball drop or fight for space on the dance floor at a club this New Years Eve? Why not run a race instead?

The New York Road Runners' Midnight Run is a four-mile run through Central Park that starts precisely at midnight. Celebrate the New Year early with a dance party starting at 10pm at Rumsey Playfield, then start your ran as a fireworks display goes off overhead. You can also get tickets for a pre- or post-race party at Tavern on the Green to keep the celebration going (though we suggest holding off on the champagne till after the run). Members can sign up for $55, while non-members can get in on the fun for $60.

And, hey, New York City bars are open till 4am! Party on.
