How huge is Game of Thrones? Huge enough to merit a gargantuan screen, bigger than your wall-spanning flat screen. Yesterday came the news that the makers of the beloved HBO series are booking 150 IMAX theaters nationwide in advance of the April premiere of the fifth season. The one-week theatrical engagement starts January 23. At these screenings, you'll be able to re-experience the final two episodes from the prior season (including the action-packed Neil Marshall-directed "The Watchers on the Wall), as well as take an exclusive taste of the upcoming run. Tickets and specific locations aren't available yet—"in the coming days" is what we've heard—so we suggest checking in at this Fandango link for updates. The significance of an IMAX engagement for a TV program (the first ever) is yet to be determined, but Game of Thrones certainly lends itself to the experiment. The canvas is epic and violent, and we'll have a hard time passing up the opportunity to hear that awesome theme song blaring out at us in Surround Sound.
