It's freezing out there! Thaw out with the best warming spa treatments in NYC

There’s rarely a time when hitting the spa doesn’t sound like the best idea ever. But a spa day, which includes pampering inside a warming room, heated blankets and pours of steamy, hot water all over your bod sounds especially heavenly during NYC in winter.

During this deep-freeze, the best spas in NYC are offering a full-service menu of warming treatments that scrub, soak and steam the winter chill right out of you. And we've narrowed it down to the most invigorating and rejuvenating services from a few of our favorite resorts and New York hotels—at a variety of price points—so you can feel toasty and relaxed without dropping major dough on a trip to Hawaii. Slip on a warm, fluffy robe and thaw out!

Hot-Stone Massage: Oasis Day Spa

Sure, a spa treatment involving hot rocks on your back might sound a bit awkward (or terrifying). But this ancient service is believed to soothe common aches, relieve stress and even fight the winter blues. If the cold-ass weather has you down, Oasis Day Spa’s luxurious lava-stone massage will relax your muscles while your skin soaks in the warmth generated by the smooth basalt—the stones improve circulation and calm the nervous system—and invigorating ginger citrus Arnica oil (60mins $155).

Winter Warm-Up + Urban Island Escape: The Waldorf Astoria Guerlain Spa

This balmy cold-weather combo is a step up from a basic massage. Inside the Waldorf Astoria, the Guerlain Spa offers a Winter Warm-Up service, which includes a hot-towel massage that uses moisturizing essential oils, softens tense tissue and soothes wind-stripped skin (50mins $195). Or opt for the Urban Island Escape, featuring a warm coconut-honey toning body mask, an exfoliating sugar glow scrub and a rejuvenating massage followed by a warm rain-shower rinse (for a tropical feeling). Your dry, parched skin needs this as much as your muscles do (80mins $325).

Turkish Hammam: The Spa at Trump Soho

In Turkey, a personalized hammam is pretty unheard of (bathhouses are a social, salubrious experience). But at The Spa in Trump Soho, you’ll receive a heated, beautifully tiled bath all to yourself. Your “Hammam Attache” will give you the scrubdown of your life using an exfoliating mitt, followed by a dramatic, lather-filled cleansing with castile-coconut soap and endless pans of hot water poured over you—all while you lie on a heated marble bench (45mins $175, weekends $190).

Hot Salt Scrub: Bliss

Yes, the brand is known for
its extensive line of skin-care products, but you can also book a pampering sesh at any of the three Bliss Spa locations for a price that won’t destroy your soul. Bliss’s hot salt-scrub treatment features a shoulder-to-shin rubdown with self-heating rosemary and eucalyptus oil, followed by a warm Vichy shower (a shower with 5–7 heads that pours water over you while you’re laying down) to reveal smooth, hydrated and polished skin (45 mins $125).

Lava Shell Massage: Yelo Spa

Most New Yorkers pop into this Midtown joint to power nap in the modern, hot pink-and-saffron colored cubes, but if you want to feel completely reenergized, opt for the invigorating, heated Lava Shell Massage. Book a deep-tissue treatment, which involves warm, organic Kerstin Florian Ginger body oil (50mins, $125) then add-on South Pacific, porcelain Lava shells (15mins, $40) for a fully rejuvenating experience. FYI: They’re the world’s most powerful, heated massage tools.

Detoxifying Seaweed Body Wrap: Red Door Spa

This purifying, marine-based treatment will cleanse and detoxify your body while restoring your skin’s tone and vitality. Start off with a heated clay and seaweed body mask followed by a deep cleansing, warm body wrap, which will draw out toxins and deliver essential minerals to your skin (50mins, $135).
