It's the dessert version of Beyoncé and Adele fusing into a pop power duo: For years, the macaron and the doughnut have fought for super-treat supremacy but now the beloved sweets are coming together thanks to Francois Payard.

In celebration of Macaron Day on Sunday, March 20th, the French pastry chef—who has organized the event for the past six years–will be serving a mash-up between the Parisian macaron and the all-American doughnut in a rainbow-sprinkled strawberry-and-cream flavor for $5 at all NYC Payard locations. It's certainly not the first time Payard has experimented with the French cookies—his macaron ice-cream sandwiches are a Time Out-approved picnic favorite.

Along with Francois Payard, Macaron Day will feature specials from local bakeries including Bouchon Bakery, Macaron Parlour and Almondine Bakery. Check out the full list of participants. A portion of the day's sales will benefit the efforts of City Harvest.
