Newark and LGA are two of the worst airports in the country for holiday travel

Every December, New Yorkers leaving town for Christmas ask themselves the same question: is my family worth a five hour layover in an airport that features Au Bon Pain as its only sustenance? And while you may have kept your complaints about your NYC airport experience relatively private (likely while eating tasteless LaGuardia yogurt) it appears you're not alone. Financial advice blog NerdWallet just published their rundown of the best and worst airports in the US for Holiday travel, and, surprise: Newark and LaGuardia both made it to the bottom five.

The list is ranked based on November and December delays, cancellations and Yelp restaurant reviews from the nation's 50 busiest airports, and it looks like NYC didn't stand a chance. Though Newark has revamped its dining options, it's likely that the international hub got pulled down by a long litany of delays. And as for Laguardia, until its fabulous renovations are completed in 2020, we don't have too many nice things to say.

So why don't you do yourself a favor and stay in NYC for the Holidays? It's not like you're going to find a better New Years Eve anywhere else.
