On Sunday, June 25, the biggest Gay Pride event in NYC—the Pride March—took over Manhattan. The community waved rainbow flags high as they marched down Fifth Avenue, and we were there for it. Riding on the Visit Austin and Time Out New York float, we saw it all, from scores of supporters outside the Stonewall Inn to a concert from Austin award-winning Latin-folk singer and LGBTQ advocate Gina Chavez, accompanied by bandmates in drag. Visit Austin also joined us for the Time Out Pride Party at Arena in midtown on June 22. Attendees of the Time Out Pride Party experienced Austin in a new way with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, flower crowns and large-scale copies of Austin’s famed street art murals.
