As they say in Fiddler on the Roof, sunrise, sunset.

To produce the images for his new gallery show “Day to Night”, photographer Stephen Wilkes perched at world-famous locations, taking thousands of images for montages that depict a day's passage into night. In the collection, Wilkes captures a variety of sites, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Vatican City during Easter, a Tour de France ride through Paris and the Kumbh Mela Festival in Haridwar, India. Each image takes Wilkes anywhere from 24 to 36 hours to shoot, and more than a month to compile. The final products make picturesque locations across the planet look even more awe-inspiring.

You can check out a few selects from “Day to Night” below, and see the whole collection in person at the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in Chelsea starting September 14.
