Hitting up some of the city’s best establishments on a bar crawl could be done in an especially motivated weekend afternoon, but visiting the best spots in all of New York State would take considerably longer. On May 24, you’ll be able to do it in two and a half hours.

More than 60 of the state’s best craft beer, cider, wine and spirits purveyors are converging on the waterfront bar Pier A Harbor House this Thursday to offer tastings of the best products they have to offer. In addition to the top-rate booze, there will also be local New York food businesses on hand with cheeses, charcuterie and other hors d’oeuvres.

The inaugural “Taste New York” event was announced by Governor Cuomo. It follows up the first-ever Taste NY Craft Beer Challenge competition, which recently named Brewery Ommegang and Roscoe NY Beer Co. as New York’s favorite beer producers.

“This first-ever Taste NY Experience will connect our world-class beverage producers to new markets to support the continued growth and expansion of the booming beverage industry,” Governor Cuomo said. “By showcasing the state’s hard-working beverage producers, we are supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, economic growth and jobs in communities across the State.”

The beverage showcase will be open to media and trade from 12pm to 4pm and the general public from 6pm to 8:30pm. Tickets are $75 for general admission and are available here.
