Here’s an easy way to maintain your New Year's resolution to stay active. It’s no secret (especially to fitness addicts) that several gyms and health clubs surround Union Square. But unless you’re not tuned into the ‘hood's offerings or our New York fitness guide, here’s how to get a crash course—without the cost.

Union Square Sweat Fest, a weeklong series of health and fitness events, will kick off during the week of February 24–March 2. Bonus: Many of them are free. Studios and clubs such as Bo Law Kung Fu, Body Space Fitness, CrossFit, and Yoga Viva will be dishing out free class spots or trial passes in order for you to find a workout best suited for your needs. You’ll also find in-store classes hosted by local fitness gear retailers such as Bandier, Lululemon and Athleta on the list—so you can scoop up some cute active wear while burning some calories.

Plus, Sweat Fest goers will be randomly selected to receive giveaways such as a six-month membership from Crunch or a 90-day membership from New York Sports Club on social media. Just follow @UnionSqaureNY on twitter, use the hashtag #USQSweatFEST and check-in each time you enter one of the Union Square fitness centers.

Make sure to mark your calendar for Monday, Feb 9—when registration opens—in order to reserve your spot. All classes will be first-come, first-serve, so keep this link on standby. But in case you can’t wait until Feb 24 to pump the iron, here are a few Valentine’s Day workouts (for couples and singles) you can try in the meantime.
